“SIGNIFICANT” WATERCOLORS
Metaphorical works. Metaphors for the various aspects and moments of our lives—symbolic images that our minds grasp, even if we are not consciously aware of it. A stone represents a burden; a thread, a bond; a feather, lightness. A blank sheet of paper is life itself, upon which we trace our daily actions and reactions—torments and joys, targets hit or missed, moments of clarity and darkness. A fragment from Heraclitus awakens a new way of perceiving, which then translates into an evocative image. A brushstroke could not exist without the brush that made it possible. Time flows, dissolving bonds. Macbeth rails against his tragic vision of a life devoid of love; strands of coconut fiber bend and curve, forming an alphabet of natural tension and release. Light rests, motionless, above a glass vessel. A stone is simultaneously an outcast—rejected and cast aside by the group—and one who has escaped the group’s imprisonment, breaking free to finally claim an autonomous identity.
